Product Development Specialist

We are seeking a talented and experienced Product Development Specialist to join our team.

You will be responsible for leading the development of new injection moulded products from concept through to production. You will be innovative, creative, and analytical, ensuring that products meet customer requirements, are cost-effective, and are manufactured with the highest quality standards.

The Product Development Specialist will work closely with R&D, tooling, manufacturing, quality and sales teams to ensure a successful product development and launch.

 

Key Responsibilities:

•            Lead the product development process from concept through production

•            Develop and manage project timelines, budgets and resources

•            Collaborate with Sales and R&D teams to ensure product designs are optimized for injection moulding

•            Work with tooling teams to ensure moulds are designed for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness

•            Conduct design reviews, prototypes, tooling trials and moulding trials to validate product designs and processes

•            Identify and resolve design, tooling and manufacturing issues

•            Develop and implement quality control plans and procedures with the QA Team

•            Collaborate with sales teams to ensure customer requirements are met and product launches are successful

 

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

•            Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial design, material science, or manufacturing engineering

•            Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development in a manufacturing or industrial environment

•            Excellent project management skills, including experience managing timelines, budgets and resources

•            Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and resolve design, tooling and manufacturing issues

•            Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work with cross-functional teams

•            Experience developing and implementing quality control plans and procedures

 

Desirable Qualifications:

•            Strong understanding of injection moulding process and tooling design desirable

•            Experience with CAD products and development tools such as SolidWorks and Moldflow

•            Experience in injection moulding, manufacturing, medical device or automotive industries

•            Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies

 

You must have a current unrestricted Drivers Licence and your own transport, and you will need to pass a pre-employment medical including AOD screening and a Police Check.
